The Home screen of the app is your dashboard of all your trading activity. It shows you:

  • # Active Trades: The number of trades you have that are still active. These can be seen by clicking on the ACTIVE TRADES button at the bottom of the screen.
  • # Total Trades: The total number of trades you have entered into the app.
  • Winners: The number of winning trades you have closed. Also, the percentage of winners out of your total trades.
  • Losers: The number of losing trades you have closed. Also, the percentage of losers out of your total trades.
  • Total: The total gain or loss you have achieved based on all of your closed trades, including commission. If this number is positive (profit), then it is green. If this number is negative (loss), then it is red.
  • Open Trade Button: This is where it all begins. This is where you go each time you open a new trade in your own trading account. Please note, this app is not a trading platform, but a trading diary where you can keep track of your trade data for later analysis. Good long-term trading requires a careful analysis of your trades so that you can fine-tune your approach. Open Trade allows you to enter trade information for later review.
  • Active Trades Button: This shows a list of all your open trades. You must open a trade before anything will show up in this list.
  • Trade Archive Button: This shows a list of all your closed trades. You must have already closed a trade for anything to show up on this list.
  • Settings Button: The settings button is where you go to enter your standard commissions that will be used for all calculations in the app. This is also where you go to learn how to use the app.

The Open Trade screen is where you enter all the data from your new trade.

  • Symbol: This is where you enter the stock symbol of your new trade.
  • $/Share: This is the price per share where the trade is placed (entry price)
  • # Shares: This is the quantity of shares you purchased on this trade.
  • Rationale for Making Trade: This is where you type your reasons for buying this stock at this time. This will help you later when you analyze your trades.
  • Take Photo-Entry Button: This opens up the camera so that you can take a photo of your computer screen showing the entry point of your trade.
  • Upload From Library Button: This opens up your device’s gallery in order to choose a photo that you have already taken with your device’s camera. TIP: If you use your device to make trades, taking a screen shot from the devices built-in screen shot feature works great. You would then push the Upload From Library Button in order to attach it to the trade in the app.
  • Skip Photo & Save: If you are not where you can easily take a photo or screen shot from your device, you can always upload it to your trade later. TIP: Avoid postponing this part of the process as the photo image is very important in the analysis process. Don’t get into the habit of skipping this step or you may not get the best results.

The Active Trades screen is a listing of all your active trades.

  • Back Button: Takes you to the prior screen.
  • Home Button: Takes you to the home screen dashboard
  • Square Check-box next to Symbols down left side of screen: Clicking in the square changes the Home Button to a Delete Button and allows you to delete a single entry.
  • Square Check-box in the top heading area: Clicking in the square changes the Home Button to a Delete Button and allows you to delete ALL entries.
  • Right Side Arrow: Clicking on any of the list items will open up the Open Trade Detail corresponding to that list item.

This is the Open Trade Detail screen and shows the information you enter when opening a trade.

  • Back Button: Takes you to the prior screen.
  • Home Button: Takes you to the home screen dashboard
  • Qty: This is the number of shares you purchased.
  • $/Sh: This is the price you paid per share.
  • Entry Trade Photo: This thumbnail photo can be tapped in order to increase it to full screen for review. When open, the Change Button on the top right allows you to change the photo using your camera or device’s gallery.
  • Invested: This is the total amount of your investment, not including commissions.
  • Stop: This is where you enter your stop order value. Please note, you can enter a value below or above your purchase price depending on if it is a stop loss, or trailing stop.
  • Risk: This is the value of the monies you have at risk based on the stop you entered, including commissions. Please note, if the stop value is lower than your entry price (stop loss) then the value in the Risk field will be red and show potential loss. If the stop value is higher than your entry price (trailing stop) then the value in the Risk field will be green and show locked in profits.
  • Targets: These are just quick references to your breakeven point and profit targets from 1%-7%. It helps to have these as quick reference when you are in a trade in order to make good exit decisions. These targets include commissions in the calculations.
  • Close Trade Button: This button is pushed once you have closed your trade in your trading platform and already have the exiting trade data.
  • NAVIGATION TIP: If you have multiple active trades in the app, you can swipe left and right from this screen to quickly scroll between them.

This is the Close Trade screen and it allows you to enter all the closed trade data.

  • Back Button: Takes you to the prior screen.
  • Sale Price: This is the price per share where the trade is closed (exit price)
  • Rationale for Exiting Trade/Overall Assessment: This is where you type your reasons for selling this stock at this time. This will help you later when you analyze your trades. TIP: Also include your overall assessment of your trade from the entry to the exit. It is through analyzing your own performance that you will begin to improve your trading. Be as descriptive as possible here.
  • Rate this Trade: This is just a personal star rating of your overall trade performance. No one will see this but you. This is a quick visual reference when reviewing your trades later.
  • Take Photo-Exit Button: This opens up the camera so that you can take a photo of your computer screen showing the exit point of your trade.
  • Upload From Library Button: This opens up your device’s gallery in order to choose a photo that you have already taken with your device’s camera.   • Share Button: Allows you to share your trade stats with a friend. TIP: Use this tool to send your completed trade info to a friend or mentor. Often times, another pair of eyes and another level of experience will help you figure out what needs to change in your trading methods. It can make a huge difference in your long-term success.
  • Entry Trade Photo and Exit Trade Photo: These thumbnail photos can be tapped in order to increase them to full screen for review. When open, the Change Button on the top right allows you to change the photo using your camera or device’s gallery.

  • Rating: This is the rating you gave your own trade when you closed it. It is your overall assessment of the trade. TIP: Don’t just give yourself a 5 Star rating if you make money, use this as a measurement of how well you handled the trade, from entry to exit.
  • Invested: This is the total amount of your investment, not including commissions.
  • IN: This is the stock’s purchase price per share.
  • OUT: This is the stock’s sale price per share.
  • Gain: This is how much you made or lost on the trade and percentage. If you had a loss, these values will be red. If you had a gain, these values will be green.
  • Purchase Rationale and Rationale for Exiting/Overall Assessment: This displays your written rationale behind entering and exiting this trade as well as your overall assessment of your trading method. TIP: The more descriptive you are when entering these data fields, the more they will help you analyze your trades. Scroll downward to see your comments.
  • NAVIGATION TIP: If you have multiple archived trades in the app, you can swipe left and right from this screen to quickly scroll between them.

This is the Settings Screen where you can set your standard commissions and learn how to use this app.

  • Commissions: This is where you enter the cost of your commissions for placing a trade with your broker. Please enter the full commission and fee for a “round trip” (all costs associated with a purchase AND a sale). This value is used in all calculations for breakeven point, target projections, and actual gains and losses. TIP: Don’t get caught up on the small fee that is added to a trade. The value you enter here can be approximated. The point here is to make sure you are including commission costs in your analysis of your trades.
